Just 30 Days to Go until the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games!

NANJING, China--()--Preparations are entering their final stage on July 17 with only 30 days to go until the start of the Nanjing 2014 YOG. A special celebration running event was held around the Nanjing City Wall to commemorate the milestone. Moreover, 25 out of 28 test events have been completed. 18,000 official volunteers and the Green Youth Olympic Village are also ready to welcome visitors from all over the world.

The “35-kilometer City Wall Run” took place around the Nanjing City Wall, a major landmark for Nanjing and one of the longest city walls in the world. The Nanjing 2014 YOG mascot, NanjingLeLe, and a group of young people hung an Olympic flag on the Nanjing City Wall to announce the start of the event. More than 10,000 participants started at Shen-Ce Men, a City Gates built during the Ming Dynasty, and ran through the other 19 City Gates to show their anticipation and enthusiasm for the approaching Nanjing 2014 YOG.

With the Nanjing 2014 YOG set to begin in just 30 days, most of the preparations for the sports venues and stadiums have been completed. To ensure that all the Nanjing YOG sporting events run smoothly, test events will continue to be held up until the beginning of August. The test events are held to make sure that the venues meet all necessary requirements and to give security, medical teams and venue crews a chance to rehearse procedures and emergency drills. During each test event, the corresponding venues are open to the public so that spectators can experience actual sporting events in the stadiums and give suggestions for better service.

The Volunteer Team was also officially unveiled to the public. The volunteers are divided into Preparation, Games-time and City Volunteers. Preparation Volunteers will serve the NYOGOC as assistants in planning and organizing while Games-time Volunteers will work in the venues and stadiums. City Volunteer will be stationed all around the city to provide visitors with information, assistance. Additionally, the Youth Olympic Village is also prepared to receive 6,000 athletes and officials from all over the world. The City of Nanjing anxiously awaits your arrival!
