The new app runs continuously in the background, helping anyone capture and share spontaneous and authentic moments. The app is currently available for iOS devices, and is optimized for version 7.0. OverHeard was designed specifically to let anyone effortlessly capture those great sounds, like a great drum solo, a warming quote, or a hilarious joke after it already happened. Hear something amazing? Simply open the app, hit the capture button, and share the sound with friends.
“We built OverHeard to enable people to share sounds like they share photos. Once you start using the app, you become instantly more aware of the world around you, and the sounds you can share,” said Andy Hickl, one of the creators of OverHeard. “OverHeard is a great way to experience a place you’ve never been before. OverHeard works by continuously capturing, buffering, and discarding sound in 15-, 30-, 60-second, or 3 minute increments. After a sound clip is saved, it can be shared immediately with the OverHeard community, or saved as a draft for later. Users can browse sounds in a universal feed of all OverHeard activity, or a filtered feed of just the sound-makers they follow.
Users can play with sounds by adding sound effects, fun titles and hashtags, tagging their friends, and replying to sounds with even more sounds. OverHeard currently features 10 fun sound effects: Mr. Reverb, Miss Echo, Mr. Vader, Mr. Roboto, Miss Lolcat, Mr. Lynch, Miss Harmony, Mr. Comedy, Mr. Crickets, and Miss Funk.
