Telcare BGM Now Integrated with Messaging Reviewed by Joslin Diabetes Center

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Telcare, Inc. announced today that it has integrated Joslin Diabetes Center-approved messaging into its award-winning diabetes management solution. The Joslin Diabetes Center’s clinical team has worked with Telcare to ensure that its standard message libraries provide diabetes management guidance that is accurate and helpful. This messaging is designed to improve patients’ self-management behavior and to encourage patients to actively participate in their diabetes care.

Joslin Diabetes Center, based in Boston, MA, is the largest diabetes research and clinical care organization in the world. Joslin, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, strives to help individuals with diabetes live long and healthy lives. Joslin’s certified diabetes educators have developed methods and messages that resonate with patients and motivate them to adopt effective strategies for managing their diabetes.

Messaging is a key component of Telcare’s diabetes management system. Telcare’s system starts with a cellular-enabled blood glucose meter that transmits glucose values instantaneously to a secure server where patients and their doctors can access the information. Messages that provide guidance and coaching are simultaneously displayed on the Telcare BGM® and on the secure Internet patient portal.

“Telcare is enormously excited to bring the diabetes expertise of the world’s leading diabetes center to patients worldwide via the power of wireless technology. We look forward to helping to expand the reach of evidence-based care for diabetes so that people who must live with this disease every day have access to state of the art medical guidance,” says Dr. Jonathan Javitt, Telcare’s CEO.

“Joslin Diabetes Center has had a long tradition of extending its mission to prevent, treat and cure diabetes in innovative ways that make a positive difference in the lives of people with diabetes,” said Judy Goodwin, SVP, Joslin Health Solution, Joslin Diabetes Center. “We are happy to continue this tradition through our work with Telcare. The Telcare BGM offers a great opportunity to engage patients by marrying technology with effective feedback to assist them in managing their diabetes.”

The new messaging will be available for all patients starting July 1.
