State Auto Announces Acquisition of Partners General Insurance Agency

COLUMBUS, Ohio--()--State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company (State Auto) today announced the completion of its purchase of Partners General Insurance Agency (PGIA), a managing general underwriter specializing in excess and surplus lines general liability and excess liability insurance. With offices in California, Illinois and Massachusetts, PGIA began operations in 2001 and now administers programs in all 50 states through a network of surplus lines wholesale insurance brokers.

PGIA has been underwriting business through State Auto’s specialty subsidiary Rockhill Insurance Company since 2011, and will continue to do so with no change in underwriting approach or operations.

PGIA President Jas Chima said, “We’re excited to enhance and strengthen our partnership with State Auto and Rockhill and continue our commitment to put service and relationships with our producers in the forefront. With the backing and support of State Auto, we’ll have even greater opportunities to strengthen and grow our products and services to benefit our clients.”

State Auto Senior Vice President of Specialty Lines Jessica Buss said, “Rockhill has had a very successful partnership with PGIA since 2011 in terms of growth and profitability. Their expertise in the excess and surplus lines space coupled with their extensive wholesale broker relationships will enhance our presence in the general liability market. This is a strategic acquisition consistent with our goal of building out our casualty products and diversifying our portfolio.
