Monteris Medical MRI Compatible Brain Surgery Stabilization System Available in North America

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Monteris Medical announced today that their 3.0 Tesla magnetic resonance (MR) compatible AtamA Stabilization System is available for sale in the US and Canada. The 1.5 Tesla version AtamA System has been available in the US since August, 2011. The AtamA System is the only MR-compatible patient stabilization system that can be used to move neurosurgery patients from the operating room into an environment of active MR imaging, while maintaining secure head positioning. Clinicians may use the AtamA System’s versatile head fixation features for MR-guided procedures, including those applying the Monteris NeuroBlate System, a minimally invasive ablation tool for lesions including brain tumors.

“We are excited to offer the market a new patient management tool in the area of MR-guided thermal medicine. As the MR transitions from an imaging platform to an image-guided therapy tool, novel products like the AtamA System will streamline procedures and reduce the difficulty of patient transfers. Our corporate goal is to provide neurosurgeons with tools to help optimize image guided therapies,” said John Schellhorn, President and CEO of Monteris Medical.

The AtamA System was demonstrated last week during the Society of Thermal Medicine, 31st Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, MN.
