The new employees work in the areas of Business, Finance, Training and Website Operations.
Tom Pappas has joined Virtual as Vice President, Finance. In this role, he oversees all financial matters of Virtual's three dozen clients, reporting to Virtual's COO and working closely with client executive directors and boards. He comes to Virtual from the National Telecommuting Institute, Boston, where as Director of Finance he was responsible for all accounting and finance functions, both operational and non-profit fund accounting. He also directed all budgeting, reporting and forecasting, secured all insurance -- both operating and benefits -- and managed banking relationships for the Institute. His non-profit finance experience also includes serving as the CFO for the Archaeological Institute of America. He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire, and an M.S. degree in Accountancy from Southern New Hampshire University.
Justin Wade will serve as Virtual's Director, Business Analytics, where he will provide senior financial leadership in business analysis activities for both Virtual and for its clients. Most recently he worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was Assistant Director for Finance and Sponsor Relations for the Research Laboratory of Electronics, the second largest research lab at MIT. He has a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Economics from Carnegie Mellon University.
Laura Schwartz is now Senior Training & Certification Manager at Virtual. She will help clients successfully operate and expand education and certification programs offered to members and the public, initially focusing on the PCI Security Standards Council and the Customer Experience Professionals Association (CXPA). Previously, she held positions in product management at Viega LLC, State Street Bank, EMD Serono and Gilbane Building Company. She has a B.B.A. degree from Hofstra University and an M.B.A. from Suffolk University.
Sheila McDonnell joins Virtual as Business Development Program Manager. In this position, she supports the company's growth efforts, focusing on lead generation and sales activities, in collaboration with the senior management and marketing teams. Before Virtual, she was Account Executive at Document Technologies, Inc., an authorized Xerox sales agency. She has a B.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, in Marketing, and an M.B.A. from Bentley University, with a concentration in Management.
Jeremy Stanek has been hired as a Web Specialist. He will support multiple client web applications and association management systems, providing ongoing assistance with operations and development of additional functionality as needed. Before coming to Virtual, he worked at Compuware as a Web Developer/Application Specialist, and he operated his own website design-development business.
