PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--After making quite a splash in 2013, RiverRush returns to Dollywood’s Splash Country this season ready to provide guests an exhilarating experience full of daredevil drops, thrilling twists and tight turns.
Dollywood’s Splash Country opens for the season on Saturday, May 17 (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.), with daily operation from Saturday, May 24 until Sunday, Aug. 17. Additional operating days take place through Labor Day weekend. The season concludes Monday, Sept. 1.
Not only did park visitors offer rave reviews of Tennessee’s first and only water coaster, RiverRush received a number of high-profile awards and honors after its maiden season. RiverRush won Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Award for Best New Waterpark Ride in 2013, while USA Today named the ride as one of the most extreme new coasters to debut last year. The Los Angeles Times selected RiverRush as one of 2013’s most anticipated new theme park rides.
Emphasizing its position as the perfect place for families to connect, Dollywood’s Splash Country recently earned several impressive accolades. Gogobot.com named the kid-approved park as the fourth best attraction in the U.S. for children. Additionally, the Atlanta Journal Constitution dubbed the park as one of America’s best waterparks.

Guests have been elated with RiverRush’s wet and wild ride, which sends water—and riders—hurtling up and down hills along its sprawling 1,176-ft. track. Thanks to its hydromagnetic technology, riders load and unload in the same location, and race through drops and numerous turns. Unlike a land coaster, however, riders experience raging rapids and a refreshing blast of water during their trip!
Named America’s Must-See Waterpark in 2009 by the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions and one of America’s best waterparks by The Travel Channel, Dollywood’s Splash Country features RiverRush, Fire Tower Falls, the state’s tallest twin speed slides, two interactive children’s play areas, a 25,000-square-foot wave pool, a 1,500-foot lazy river, and more than 25 speed slides and white water rafting adventure rides throughout the 35-acre park located adjacent to Dollywood theme park.
