Upromise by Sallie Mae awards four inspiring teens a total of $20,000 for college savings on “Steve Harvey”

NEWARK, Del.--()--Yesterday on the hit daytime show “Steve Harvey,” preparing for college became much easier for four inspiring career-driven teens, each selected from thousands of students for the prestigious Disney Dreamers Academy. To help them achieve their goals, Upromise by Sallie Mae awarded each young person $5,000 for college.

At just 16, Matthew Henderson, a junior in high school from Great Falls, Mont., is an avid entrepreneur with a thriving clothing company.

Caitlin Montgomery, a 17-year old junior from Fort Mills, S.C., plans to attend college, pursue volunteer service, and become a counselor for troubled adolescents.

Fifteen-year old high school sophomore Niani Scott of Bolingbrook, Ill., an avid poet, aims to be a television journalist after attending college as a journalism major.

Carlos Marmolejo lives in Homestead, Fla., and plans to pursue a college degree in physics with a goal of becoming a physicist or engineer.

“With $5,000 for Matthew, Caitlin, Niani and Carlos’ education, we hope to make the essential education to achieve their goals within reach,” said Erin Condon, vice president, Sallie Mae. “These teens personify the dreams many of us have for our own children and Upromise encourages families to take action to save for college and prepare for their future.”
