AU Energy Celebrates Newest Shell Station with Daly City Franchise

Location will Feature Loop Marketplace

DALY CITY, Calif.--()--AU Energy, one of Northern California’s largest operators of Shell service stations, celebrates its newest location with a grand opening today on Hillside Boulevard in Daly City.

“This location will offer premium Shell gasoline, an 1800-square-foot retail center and other amenities to motorists,” said Nick Goyal, CEO of AU Energy. “Daly City is a significant, growing marketplace and we are proud to serve both Daly City residents and visitors alike.”

Among the new station’s features for customers is the company’s sixth Loop Marketplace, which offers organic, healthy foods as well as a salad bar, espresso and frozen yogurt.

“Loop is the next evolution in service station retail and will change your expectation of what you can purchase for yourself and your family at your next fill-up,” said Mr. Goyal.

Construction and development costs for the station, located at 950 Hillside Boulevard in Daly City, were $2.8 million. Fifteen to 20 new employees, including local residents, will work at the station, which is projected to generate $865,000 in sales tax for Daly City.

“We’re pleased to welcome a community partner such as AU Energy to Daly City,” said Daly City Mayor David J. Canepa, who attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the station today. “This is about creating local jobs for our community, and growing our local economy. Gas and sales taxes are important funding sources for improving our local infrastructure, and helping us expand direct services to our residents such as Public Safety, Park and Recreation, and Library services. While local government continues to contract, these dollars are much needed."

Daly City Vice Mayor Carol Klatt and Councilmembers Ray Buenaventura and Sal Torres also attended today’s ribbon-cutting event.

The Daly City-Colma Chamber of Commerce was also on hand today to celebrate one of Daly City’s newest businesses. “We welcome AU Energy and the Loop marketplace to our community and local economy,” said Chamber CEO and President Georgette Sarles. “This station provides convenience and choice for our local residents and a reason for visitors to stop and do business here in Daly City.”

The Goyal family started with one station in 1978 in Oakland. Since then they have developed into a wholesaler for Shell Oil, with locations throughout California and more than 1,000 employees.

“We’re absolutely focused on providing the best experience possible to our customers,” said Nick Goyal. “In Northern California, drivers have come to appreciate the Shell brand and service. We are very proud now to serve all of Daly City.”
