MacIT 2014
Managing Apple in the Enterprise: Why MDM and WLAN Management Go Hand-in-Hand

  • Who: Matthew Gast, director of advanced technology at Aerohive Networks; Jake Mosey, manager, product management at JAMF Software
  • What: Today, mobile devices have infiltrated every aspect of business, making security a top concern for IT departments across industry. Mobile device management (MDM) solves some of the monitoring and management challenges of this mobile explosion—but is MDM alone enough? Today’s sophisticated mobile devices may require IT departments to deploy a more comprehensive solution to ensure corporate networks are completely protected. A hybrid approach, combining agent-based MDM and network management is one way IT departments may look to effectively and efficiently manage Apple in the enterprise. Drawing from real-world use cases, this speaking session will discuss why MDM and WLAN management should be implemented in tandem and best practices for managing Apple in the enterprise.
  • When: Thursday, March 27, 3:10pm-3:55pm PT
  • Where: Moscone Center North, San Francisco, CA in Room IT863

802.11ac: Not Just a Networking Phase
Track: Infrastructure

  • Who: Matthew Gast, director of advanced technology, Aerohive Networks
  • What: As 802.11ac moves from early adoption into the mainstream, what does it mean for your network? Previous new physical layers were about increasing the raw speed of the network, but as we approach the practical limits of the number of bits that can be squeezed through the channel, the 802.11 working group has turned to increased efficiency to improve network performance. This session will present the basic technologies of 802.11ac, how they break into phases for an industry-wide roadmap, and discuss how to plan your network for the long term as 802.11ac moves from an emerging technology to the standard type of network link.
  • When: Wednesday, April 2, 4:00pm-5:00pm PT
  • Where: Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV in Breakers L
