TOKYO--()--SMART INSIGHT CORPORATION (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Mack K. Machida; hereinafter, "SMART INSIGHT") announces entering into a solutions partnership contract with ASAHI KASEI ENGINEERING CORPORATION (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazunori Hirasawa; hereinafter, "ASAHI KASEI ENGINEERING").

ASAHI KASEI ENGINEERING has been leading FPM (Factory Performance Management), a structure which collects, calculates and displays existing factory information and shares them for safety, stability and peace of mind in factories.

FPM is a concept developed from the production and maintenance management systems cultivated by ASAHI KASEI ENGINEERING. It manages all information about production activities, rather than just providing production data. In order to achieve the model, SMART/InSight G2 Open, data integration and visualization tool, is applied.

To demonstrate FPM's capabilities, ASAHI KASEI ENGINEERING has streamlined loss tree creation process, which is a cornerstone of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activity. SMART/InSight enabled to calculate both quantity and cost of losses using data from various reports, and lets personnel analyze primary loss factors from a loss tree. The time and effort that was conventionally used for manipulating data can now be used to analyze data or consider results.

SMART/InSight has been widely used as a solution to enhance 'product capability' by improving quality and design efficiency on discrete manufacturing. In addition to this, it will now also be used as a solution for enhancing 'manufacturing capabilities'. ASAHI KASEI ENGINEERING starts to promote and support the solution, being a partner of SMART INSIGHT.
