Post University Launches Logo Contest in Celebration of 125th Anniversary

Logo will be used to promote Post’s upcoming Quasquicentennial events

WATERBURY, Conn.--()--Today, Post University has announced a call for logo entries in celebration of their upcoming 125th anniversary. Next month, the university will formally begin a year-long countdown to its Quasquicentennial, culminating with a celebration in April 2015.

Digital versions of logos may be submitted for consideration to contest@post.edu through Friday, March 14, 2014. The designer of the winning logo will receive a $100 gift card, a framed version of their logo, and public recognition as their design is prominently featured in the University’s anniversary events and celebratory messaging.

In commenting on the upcoming Quasquicentennial celebrations, Don Mroz, Ph.D., President of Post University and Founding Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post University expressed his excitement saying, “Throughout our history, Post University has experienced numerous incarnations with the consistent presence of the Post family. Our founder, Harry C. Post, has been instrumental in our accomplishments and overarching success, and we continue to maintain a great relationship with the Post family today.” Mroz continued, “We are thrilled to honor their significant efforts to keep our university a part of Waterbury’s history and we look forward to remaining a local fixture for years to come.”

Post University traces its roots to downtown Waterbury, where in 1890 the Matoon Shorthand School began operations in a rented space. In 1893, the Matoon School was renamed Bliss & Harrington’s Business College and School of Shorthand. In 1897, New York state resident Harry C. Post moved to Waterbury to become the school’s principal and proceeded to buy the school within that year. While growing in downtown Waterbury, the school’s name was changed many times; from Waterbury Business College to Post College, to Post Junior College of Commerce to Post Junior College. In 1965, the University acquired the property of its current-day campus on Country Club Road in Waterbury. Today, Post University offers both on-ground and online education to a growing number of students throughout the region, country and world.
