BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Idaho Military Behavioral Health Alliance, a partnership designed to support Service members, Veterans and their Families, presents RETURN BUT NO ESCAPE, a compelling event with returning speaker and US NAVY Veteran, Jeff Heiser. For those who support or are a part of the military population, it’s an incredible opportunity to hear one’s personal experience with PTSD, suicide and substance abuse. Attendees will explore reintegration challenges faced after deployments and learn how the community can help raise awareness. RETURN BUT NO ESCAPE is scheduled for Monday, March 10, 9a – 12p at The Summit Church in Boise. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
Jeff Heiser will share his personal journey through PTSD, suicidal ideation and substance abuse, giving first-hand account of winning these battles. "I am pretty certain I would not be here today if I had not asked for help. If it were not for my wife, the outcome would have been much different. It can happen to anyone; it doesn't have to be combat related - I am a Cold War Veteran,” said Heiser, US Navy Veteran.
During the event, Heiser will incorporate his short film, also titled “Return But No Escape,” which won Best Dramatic Short Film in a local Florida independent film festival. He will also speak about his experience helping his own son manage his struggles with PTSD.
“We invite anyone who is interested in learning more about PTSD, suicidal ideation and substance abuse. Whether you are a pastor, faith leader, counselor, social worker, police officer, first responder or veteran, our goal is to provide information to identify these issues and help local Idaho veterans,” said Sheila Warner, Chairman of the IMBHA.
RETURN BUT NO ESCAPE is made possible by the Idaho Military Behavioral Health Alliance, a partnership between Army OneSource, The Summit Church and Media Fish Productions LLC. This is the fourth time the Alliance has hosted the event, reaching over 300 Idahoans with lifesaving information. The IMBHA will provide updates on the positive impact that Idaho communities are having on military families living in the state and on how professionals can get involved in the Alliance.
