FORT WORTH, Texas--()--The 21st Annual NAPE Expo, the world’s largest E&P (upstream) expo, drew more than 16,600 attendees and 950 exhibitors from across the U.S. and the globe to Houston Feb. 4-7.

Presented by the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) in partnership with the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), NAPE is recognized as the premier marketplace for buying, selling and trading oil and gas prospects and producing properties. In addition, the NAPE Business Conference brought together oil and gas executives and experts from government and industry to speak on topics ranging from legislative and regulatory challenges to E&P trends and technical advances. The NAPE Business Conference was presented by IHS and featured former U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar as the keynote speaker. American Economist Alan Greenspan headlined the Decision Maker’s Breakfast — the ultimate power breakfast offered prior to the opening of the expo show floor.

Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates spoke at the NAPE Charities Luncheon, which donated $100,000 each to four charities — the Lone Survivor Foundation, The Mission Continues, Canine Companions for Independence and Support-A-Soldier. To date NAPE has given more than $3 million to wounded warrior charities. “The whole week went great,” said AAPL Executive Vice President Marty Schardt. “People came looking for value and there was a wide variety of value available.”

In addition, NAPE International brought in prospects, capital providers and vendors under one roof to network, provide economic benefit to the participants and promote all aspects of different countries in the industry. The international expo was a great success, hosting 20 countries and around 1,500 attendees from all over the globe. “International grew quite a bit this year,” Schardt said. “We look forward to furthering that growth in the coming years.”

While the NAPE Expo is held in February, regional NAPE Expos are held in Pittsburgh in April; Denver in December; and Houston in August providing an opportunity for oil and gas professionals to network, buy or sell prospects and discuss key topics unique to each region.
