LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LyncConf 2014 - Plantronics (NYSE:PLT), a pioneer in wearable technology and audio communications, is demonstrating new applications that work with Microsoft Lync and Plantronics’ sensor-enabled wearable devices to help improve productivity for users, particularly when they are on the go. Plantronics will demonstrate how a connected worker can use their headset to seamlessly transfer an active Lync call from their computer to their mobile phone as they move away from their desk. In addition, Plantronics will showcase how its Smart Presence application can provide more accurate presence information in Microsoft Lync when a user is on a mobile or desk phone.
Plantronics’ new Smart Presence application and seamless transfer technology will be on display at the LyncConf 2014 in booth #522 at the Aria Casino and Hotel Convention Center. The company will also showcase third party applications that leverage the Smart Presence integration with Lync to enhance automated call distribution in a call center environment.
“We are excited that Plantronics is providing workers in multiple environments with a variety of devices that can transition communications more easily from Lync and Skype to a mobile device,” said Giovanni Mezgec, General Manager of Lync Product Marketing at Microsoft. “This provides customers the flexibility to choose a solution that meets their specialized communication and collaboration needs.”
Plantronics’ portfolio of wearable audio devices that are optimized for Lync, include comprehensive offerings for Lync users. Plantronics’ unified communication offerings connect to multiple devices, provide world class audio experience in challenging environments, and provide smarter communication and collaboration through wearable technology that leverages information about users including the ability to sense when a device is worn or not, proximity intelligence and mobile call state awareness.
“Plantronics provides Lync customers with the flexibility to work anywhere by enabling them to move between devices and places throughout the day to maximize the benefits of the Microsoft Lync experience,” said Bill Loewenthal, vice president of Enterprise Solutions at Plantronics. “The ability of our audio devices to easily transition communications in multiple environments and deliver information about the user’s world makes communicating easier because it anticipates a user’s needs and provides more accurate information to those around them. Our capabilities improve the ease of audio connections between people and signal the promise of wearable technology.”
Seamless Transfer and Voyager Legend UC
The seamless transfer feature is able to seamlessly transfer a Lync-based call from a PC to a mobile phone using information from Plantronics’ Voyager Legend UC headset as the user moves out of proximity from their PC. The proximity information from the headset triggers Microsoft Lync to transfer the call to the mobile device the user takes with them on the go. Seamless transfer is a capability that will be included in the Plantronics application and will be available in the Microsoft Lync catalog later this year.
Smart Presence
Plantronics Smart Presence for Microsoft Lync 2013 provides enhanced presence capabilities when used with Plantronics Spokes for Windows software and supported Plantronics audio devices including Voyager Legend UC, Savi 700 series, Blackwire 700 series and Calisto 620. The application will change a user’s Microsoft Lync presence status to “In a call” when on a mobile phone call, traditional PBX desk phone or third party softphone call to enhance and provide the presence state in Lync. Smart Presence for Lync 2013 is the first application from an audio device vendor to be included in the Lync Application Catalog. The Smart Presence for Lync 2013 application is also available on Plantronics’ website.
Third Party Concept Applications for the Contact Center
Plantronics will be showcasing third party applications that enhance Automated Call Distribution (ACD) developed by Zylink and Clarity Connect, both Microsoft partners with contact center applications tested and qualified for Lync 2013. By using wearable technology sensors in Plantronics audio devices and Spokes SDK, available at plantronics.com/developer, both of these developers have enhanced a contact center agent’s availability for call distribution.
