Code Fellows Launches Foundations Courses for Novice Programmers

Digital Trade School to Prep Entry-Level Programmers for More Advanced Training

SEATTLE--()--Code Fellows, a Seattle-based digital trade school, today announced that it has launched a set of 4-week introductory programming courses designed to teach the foundations of computer science and software development to people with limited technical backgrounds.

“Over the last year, we’ve interviewed hundreds of people who are seeking to switch careers and write code for a living. By far the most common barrier that students face is learning how to build a proper foundation in computer science and knowing which specific set of tools to learn for web and mobile development,” said Will Little, Co-Founder and CEO of Code Fellows. “Our Foundations courses are designed for beginners to survey a large amount of material and set a personalized growth plan for a lifetime of learning.”

The first course, Fundamentals of Computer Science & Web Development (cost: $500 USD), will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7 pm PT, beginning March 3rd. Then, a set of secondary courses that focus on specific software stacks for students to choose from will follow in April (cost: $1500 USD each), starting with Foundations in Ruby on Rails and Foundations in Full-stack JavaScript. Each course will take place at Code Fellows headquarters in the South Lake Union area of Seattle.

Code Fellows, which launched in January 2013, has graduated more than 100 software engineers from its eight-week, full-time coding bootcamps with an average starting salary of $82,000 per year. The top reported salary offer for a Code Fellows graduate in 2013 was $155,000.
