Pre-Seed Inventor Dr. Joanna Ellington Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Fertility-Friendly Lubricant’s Introduction

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa--()--Dr. Joanna Ellington, an internationally recognized scientist in the area of sperm physiology and an affiliate of the Washington State University Center for Reproductive Biology, has posted an online retrospective celebrating the 10th anniversary of introducing Pre-Seed, the first fertility-friendly lubricant for trying to conceive (TTC) couples.

Dr. Ellington invented Pre-Seed Fertility-Friendly personal lubricant over a decade ago to meet women’s needs for safe lubrication when trying to get pregnant. Many TTC couples were not aware that many common lubricants damage sperm. That is because most leading lubricants contain glycerin, have the wrong pH and have high salt or “isotonic” levels that dehydrate sperm and stop them from swimming.

Pre-Seed is different because it is glycerin-free and is properly balanced with the correct pH and isotonic levels to mimic a woman’s fertile fluids. Pre-Seed was the first lubricant allowed by the FDA to state that it is safe for use by TTC couples. In the past 10 years, clinical studies in a number of authoritative, professional publications confirm that Pre-Seed’s special formulation makes it safe and effective for use by couples who are trying to get pregnant.

In her post at Pre-Seed’s TTC blog (http://www.preseed.com/TTC-blog) Dr. Ellington recalls “the initial discovery that led to Pre-Seed and the long journey to bring Pre-Seed to market” 10 years ago, as well as “the hundreds of stories we have heard over the years about couples trying to get pregnant and how Pre-Seed helped them in this journey.” Dr. Ellington describes her experience when she was trying for over one year to conceive her second child. “From my research as a Sperm Physiologist working with infertile couples, I knew that many trying to conceive women had inadequate fertile secretions due to the stress of hormonal changes, fertility medications or ‘having to have’ intercourse at ovulation.”

Dr. Ellington’s research led her to develop the fertility-friendly lubricant, Pre-Seed, that was designed to work in harmony with a woman’s body to help create a welcoming environment for sperm. Pre-Seed’s formula also proved to be as slippery and smooth as, if not better than, leading lubricants. “That is why I believe Pre-Seed is the best lubricant for ‘seriously fun baby making,’ ” writes Ellington.

It was a big achievement to complete the testing required for the FDA to review and approve claims that Pre-Seed was safe to use when trying to conceive. Dr. Ellington adds, “Pre-Seed was the first ever fertility-friendly lubricant and had to undergo extensive testing and data review before we could proudly and truthfully tell the world that Pre-Seed was safe to use when trying to conceive.”

Pre-Seed is also the only fertility-friendly lubricant to be formulated by a woman Sperm Physiologist. As Dr. Ellington states, “Conceiving Pre-Seed and bringing it to all of you has been an amazing experience and I am grateful to those who have been a part of our Pre-Seed family!”
