NEW YORK--()--The home of Joseph Simmons—best known as Rev Run from the iconic rap group, Run DMC—will get a major transformation in the new DIY Network series Rev Run’s Renovation, premiering Saturday, January 4, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. During the 10-episode series, the home’s remodel becomes a family affair as Rev Run, his wife Justine, their kids Daniel (Diggy), Russell (Russy) and Miley, and a team of builders work together to completely renovate their 9,000 square foot New Jersey home. As the family mansion is gutted from top to bottom, Run and Justine debate the new design possibilities for each space.

“You’ll see me and Justine talking about how she wants this house to be transformed—it’s all about her vision,” said Run. “Most of our arguments, like any other couple going through this, revolve around the budget.”

Justine has grand plans to tap the budget to transform her outdated kitchen into a sleek, modern European-style space, while Run wants a mini indoor pool and spa. It’s a game of give and take where big ideas are passionately pursued.

“Rev Run is a legend in the music business, but he and his family are like any other first-time home remodelers,” explains Steven Lerner, senior vice president, programming and development, HGTV and DIY Network. “They’re dealing with noise, dust, the local zoning board—every homeowner who has undertaken a major remodel can relate.”

Rev Run’s Renovation also chronicles the design and construction of new bedrooms and custom bathrooms for the kids: Russy wanted a “zen-like” room, Diggy preferred his new space be “contemporary,” while Miley asked for her new room to be like “fairytale castle.” The series features Mr. and Mrs. Simmons’ as they tackle each stage of the renovation with a lot of grace and elbow grease to turn the dated property into the ultimate family dream home.

“Letting people observe our home renovation has allowed me to share our family values with our fans and other renovation lovers,” said Rev Run. “There is nothing more important to me than family and the home!"

Rev Run and Michael Lehman are executive producers of the series.
