Shamblott Family Dentistry Announces 5th Annual Halloween Candy Buyback

Hopkins-Area Family Dental Office Gives Children Cash for Unopened Halloween Candy, Donates Candy to Troops

HOPKINS, Minn.--()--Shamblott Family Dentistry, a Hopkins, Minnesota family dental practice, will host the 5th Annual Halloween Candy Buyback event on Friday, November 1, 2013 and Saturday, November 2, 2013. Children can donate their unopened Halloween candy in exchange for cash and a goody bag. Shamblott Family Dentistry donates the candy to Operation Gratitude, an organization that sends care packages to U.S. military personnel.

"Children love to go trick-or-treating on Halloween," said Dr. Scott Shamblott. "Yet too much candy isn't good for their teeth. By encouraging children to donate their candy to the Halloween Candy Buyback program, parents can relax, let their kids have fun on Halloween, and donate to a worthy cause."

This is the fifth year that Shamblott Family Dentistry will participate in the Halloween Candy Buyback event. Last year, the family dental office collected 725 pounds of candy, all of which was donated to Operation Gratitude. The organization's website states that last year, they received and shipped 127.5 tons of candy.

"I hope that we can donate even more candy this year," said Dr. Shamblott. "It's really a great event and a win-win for everyone: the kids, parents, and of course, the troops."

Families can exchange candy for cash at Shamblott Family Dentistry, 33 Tenth Avenue South, Suite 250, Hopkins, Minnesota on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shamblott Family Dentistry will weigh the candy and give children $1 for every pound of candy donated (up to $5.00 total.) Children will also receive a goody bag filled with fun items.
