NEW YORK--()--TOWN Residential is pleased to announce the opening of TOWN Gramercy, its ninth Manhattan office location. Located at the distinguished and historic 33 Irving Place, this new office is home to TOWN’s Executive team and corporate staff, including Corporate Services and Relocation, Marketing, New Development, Human Resources, Technical Support, Facilities and Legal departments, the PR News Desk and 40 of the firm’s top Representatives, plus the new International Sales Division.

This opening occurs just weeks after the announcement of the expansion of TOWN’s 730 Fifth Avenue office in the renowned Crown Building, where TOWN grew its sales team from over fifty to over eighty Representatives. In order to accommodate this growth, the corporate staff relocated to its new home. "We have converted a spectacular prewar Loft with 20 foot ceilings and 60 feet of frontage into a collaborative work space," said TOWN Founder and CEO Andrew Heiberger.

The highly designed retail level location on Irving Place is a key expansion for TOWN’s growing Downtown campus. “Park Avenue is like Manhattan’s central highway, and being able to access it directly is tremendously valuable,” said Heiberger. “From this location, any neighborhood is accessible – Uptown, Downtown, crosstown. The office is conveniently situated right near Union Square, a transportation hub and fabulous place for sales professionals to be.”

The Gramercy area is known to feature some of the highest price points in residential real estate, suiting TOWN’s upscale brand, its Representatives and clientele. The new office also is centrally located near new development, and the area is known as an enclave for foodies.

"Gramercy undeniably occupies such a unique place in the history of this great City," noted Lina Viviano, TOWN Residential Historian. Gramercy Park, she added, exemplifies this. "As one of the City's two extant private parks, it has played host to such notable people as the actor and founder of the Players' Club, Edwin Booth, the playwright, Oscar Wilde, the actor John Barrymore, the writer O'Henry, and the renown architect Stanford White. It is, fittingly for TOWN, home to the oldest cooperative building in the City, 34 Gramercy Park East, and the nearby charming residential enclave on East 19th Street known as Block Beautiful."

33 Irving Place, designed by the prolific firm of Goldwin Starrett & Van Vleck (designers of Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor, among other buildings) in the first decade of the 20th Century, she noted, "was one of a number of buildings that were in the vanguard of the neighborhood's transition from a quiet, residential neighborhood, to one that seamlessly accommodated modern, and architecturally-distinguished, commercial buildings that ushered the neighborhood into the dawn of a new century."

In the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s, the area was host to the surging music and nightlife scene, anchored by the famed nightclub and restaurant Max’s Kansas City at 213 Park Avenue South. At the crossroads of fashion, music and art, it became a gathering spot for poets, artists, designers and musicians, including Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol, The Velvet Underground, David Bowie, Roy Lichtenstein, Betsey Johnson, Halston, Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones.

“With this new office we are nearing the completion of phase two of our overall business plan,” said Heiberger. “ You can expect another big announcement from TOWN within the next 30 days.”
