Analysis Group Welcomes New Affiliates, Announces Staff Promotions

New Affiliates

Tülin Erdem Professor Erdem is a professor of business and marketing at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. Her research interests include advertising, brand management and equity, consumer choice, customer relationship management, decision making under uncertainty, econometric modeling, and pricing. She has served as a marketing and market research expert in class action and commercial litigation, and has testified on issues such as brand positioning and consumer confusion; consumer behavior and decision making; and trademark infringement. Her deposition testimony and consulting services have involved the high-technology, financial, telecommunications, nonprofit, and consumer goods industries.

E. Han Kim – Professor Kim is an expert in corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. He is the Everett E. Berg Professor of Business Administration and director of the Mitsui Life Financial Research Center and East Asia Management Development Center at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. He has explored issues related to the determination of government instrumentality in matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He currently serves on the boards of two closed-end mutual funds. Professor Kim also has experience in sovereign debt renegotiations, having served as the adviser to the Korean government’s team to renegotiate its foreign debt obligations with international bankers in 1998.

Gordon Liu – Professor Liu is a leading expert on health and development economics, health policy reform, and pharmaceutical economics in China. He is the director of the China Center for Health Economics Research and a professor of economics at Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management. He is a key figure in Chinese health care reform efforts and sits on the China State Council Health Reform Advisory Commission. He is president of the Chinese Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research and has served as president of the Chinese Economists Society. Professor Liu was a founding chair of the Asian Consortium for the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research.

Jun S. Liu – Professor Liu is an internationally renowned expert in statistics. He is a professor of statistics at Harvard University and the Harvard School of Public Health, and a guest professor at Tsinghua University and Peking University. He has consulted to leading multinational pharmaceutical manufacturers and has served as a principal investigator in numerous National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health programs. His pioneering work in genetic and genomic research, on Monte Carlo methods for integration and optimization in complex systems, and on statistical applications in health care, finance, and engineering has had a broad impact on the theoretical understanding and practical application of statistics.

Michael Moore – Professor Moore has broad expertise in applied econometrics and microeconomics. He is senior lecturer for the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at the Yale University School of Management and School of Public Health. He has testified extensively in front of judges and juries at all stages of the litigation process, in cases involving antitrust issues, commercial damages, corporate finance, tax concerns, and health, safety, and the environment. He has prepared reports opining on issues related to class certification, liability, and damages in a wide range of cases.

Kathleen M. Sutcliffe – Professor Sutcliffe’s expertise is in the areas of strategic management and organization theory. She is the Gilbert and Ruth Whitaker Professor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Her research focuses on understanding how organizations and their members cope with uncertainty and unexpected events, and how complex organizations can be designed to be more reliable and resilient. Professor Sutcliffe has also consulted with private multinational companies in a variety of industries, and with nongovernmental organizations and government agencies.

New Managing Principal

Gaurav Jetley Mr. Jetley specializes in merger-related litigation, valuation of derivative instruments, securities valuation, corporate finance, and risk management. He has worked on several mergers and acquisitions–related matters that have involved the analysis of bid premiums, arbitrage spreads, deal terms, and disclosures made by bidders and targets. His securities valuation experience includes analyzing the impact of selected disclosures on the stock price of large corporations across a variety of industries, including electric utilities, office equipment, biotechnology, and health care. Mr. Jetley has also worked on several matters involving the valuation of equity, fixed income, foreign exchange, and mortgage-backed derivative securities. He has conducted research and published articles on risk management, arbitrage spreads, the application of real-option techniques to value drug development projects, the application of simulation techniques to value path-dependent American equity options, and corporate governance.

New Principal

Elizabeth A. Eccher, Ph.D. A specialist in accounting, financial analysis, and valuation, Dr. Eccher has served as an expert in commercial disputes involving the proper application of accounting principles. Her consulting experience includes interpretation and application of financial accounting standards and terminology, damages estimation for lost sales, cost analyses, business valuations, and financial analyses for transfer pricing. Her work has spanned such industries as computer software, biotechnology, automotive, financial services, agriculture, retail, and utilities. Her consulting work has included calculating lost profits in breach of contract and unfair competition cases in the high-speed rail, software, and pharmaceuticals industries; analyzing complex transactions in tax litigation; and evaluating the materiality of financial statement disclosures in the financial services industry.

New Vice Presidents

In July 2012, Analysis Group welcomed to its Boston office Vice President Paul Centolella, who specializes in energy markets and policies related to energy pricing, investments, innovation, and security.

The firm has also promoted 12 consultants to vice president.

In Boston: Eric Dufresne has experience in the financial markets and has conducted numerous studies on risk management and asset pricing for clients including large U.S. financial institutions, hedge funds, and fund-of-funds. Brian J. Ellman specializes in the application of microeconomics, statistics, and finance to antitrust, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, securities, and complex commercial litigations, as well as government investigations. Elaine M. Fleming, Ph.D., provides economic analyses in antitrust, breach of contract, health care, intellectual property, and telecommunications matters, as well as in regulatory and arbitration proceedings. Andrea M. Okie focuses on energy and environmental economics in the electric and natural gas industries and recently analyzed the impacts of Northeast states’ use of auction revenues from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. Shannon N. Seitz, Ph.D., has provided economic analysis in antitrust and intellectual property matters, drawing on a broad range of expertise in labor economics, econometrics, applied microeconomics, and health economics. James Signorovitch, Ph.D., advises pharmaceutical and medical device companies. He has developed and implemented health economics and outcomes research strategies in a number of therapeutic areas and disease states.

In Chicago: Maria Lauve, Ph.D., has evaluated liability and damages in cases involving contractual disputes, claims of intellectual property infringement, and claims of anticompetitive behavior.

In Dallas: Minh P. Doan specializes in the evaluation of economic damages in complex commercial disputes, including intellectual property, class certification, antitrust, breach of contract, and loss of earnings matters.

In Los Angeles: Niall H. MacMenamin has worked on finance and securities cases, assessing allegations of securities fraud, analyzing mortgage-backed securities, evaluating mutual fund fees, and assessing issues related to investment suitability. Andrew T. Stichman specializes in the application of finance and economics to complex business litigation and damages estimation across a broad range of matters involving antitrust, structured finance, securities, ERISA, and intellectual property.

In Montreal: Francis Vekeman has conducted and directed a wide range of investigations, including epidemiological evaluations, safety studies, direct and indirect cost-of-illness assessments, and examinations of resource utilization patterns.

In New York: Jasmina I. Ivanova applies statistics and econometrics to health outcomes research, retrospective claims analysis, survey development, chart review studies, and cost-effectiveness and quality-of-life studies.
