MIAMI--()--Tres Mares Group awarded Trapezoid Digital Security of Miami with the “Tres Mares Innovation Prize” during the Florida International University’s (FIU) 2012 Americas Venture Capital Conference held in Miami on the 13th and 14th of December 2012.

Trapezoid Digital Security, a Miami company that provides hardware-based security solutions for enterprise and cloud environments, received a cash prize of $10,000 and an original work of art, Libro de las Olas, authored by Iñaki Bonillas. Best known for connecting different elements of photography to create distinct works of art, Bonillas, has received critical acclaim during his recent exhibition at the 30th Sao Paulo Biennial, Brazil. Libro de las Olas is a collection of four photographic elements: focus, shutter, rotation and zoom. “These elements are similar to those used in the everyday management of these companies,” explained Bonillas. “I thought Libro de las Olas would be a fitting artistic rendition of innovation for the Tres Mares Innovation Prize.’”

The “Tres Mares Innovation Prize” pursues to distinguish promising young innovative enterprises, from South Florida and Ibero-America, whose creative efforts are commanding the development of innovative products or services that impact the region's economy.

“This year the Conference saw a record number of attendees and high caliber company presentations that made the selection process particularly difficult,” said Boris Hirmas Said, Chairman of the Board of Tres Mares S.A. (Chile) and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Eugenio Pino and Family Global Entrepreneurship Center of the School of Business at Florida International University. “Trapezoid Digital Security is a great example of what the Tres Mares prize embodies and the changing entrepreneurial ecosystem Miami is becoming in order to be seriously considered by global investors.”

The conference showcased 29 companies from 10 different countries as well as 2 days of panels and keynotes speakers from the most influential entrepreneurs, investors and company executives such as Brad Feld, author and Managing Director at Foundry Group; Bedy Yang, LatAm Partner of 500 Start Ups; and Tracy Isacke, Director, Investments & Business Development of Telefónica.

“I have no doubt that this gathering will produce the kinds of new ideas and new business ventures that will put our community on the fast-track to becoming a center for innovative tech-driven entrepreneurship,” said Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez.
