SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CAMICO (www.camico.com), the nation’s largest CPA-directed provider of specialty liability insurance for Certified Public Accountants, has named Texas CPA Robert P. (Pat) Evans as chairman of the company’s board of directors for a three-year term through June 2015.
Evans succeeds Louis J. Barbich, CPA, MBA, who retired as chairman on June 11 after having served in that position for 26 years since CAMICO’s founding in 1986. Barbich was a co-founder of the company and was 1985-86 President of the California Society of CPAs. He will continue to serve on CAMICO’s board of directors.
Evans, a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), has served on the 11-member CAMICO board since 2003. He is president of Schieffer Group Management Company in Fort Worth, Texas. Prior to that, he was the managing partner of the accounting firm Sproles Woodard LLP, the director of the firm’s Management Advisory Services, and partner-in-charge of the Fort Worth office.
Evans’ industry experience includes audit and consulting in the areas of higher education and other not-for-profit organizations, financial institutions, retail, technology, wholesale distribution, and oil and gas companies, among others. He has authored AICPA practice aids titled “Industry Consulting: Voluntary Health and Welfare Organizations” and “Microcomputer Security” and has served on boards and committees of the AICPA and the Texas Society of CPAs.
