NEW YORK--()--Universal Republic has promoted A&R executive Tom Mackay to Executive Vice President of the company, it was announced today by Monte Lipman, President and CEO and Avery Lipman, Co-President & COO, Universal Republic Records. Mr. Mackay has been at Universal Republic since the inception of the label and served as Executive Vice President of A&R for Universal Republic since 2009. In order to maximize creative opportunities, Mr. Mackay has relocated from New York to Los Angeles and will be based in Universal Republic's Santa Monica offices.

Recently, Mr. Mackay signed and curated the soundtrack for one of the year's most anticipated motion pictures, "The Hunger Games." He led Universal Republic's collaboration with Lionsgate Films and is working with twelve-time Grammy and Academy Award winner T Bone Burnett to help create "The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond.” Mr. Mackay was also an integral part of launching the smash hit show, "The Voice" in 2011, further extending the label's reach as the musical partner with Talpa Productions and NBC.

Current projects for Mr. Mackay include oversight of new albums from Lisa Marie Presley with Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment, as well as new albums from Erin McCarley, The Secret Sisters. In addition, Mr. Mackay continues to spearhead TWENTY FIRST REPUBLIC alongside venture partner Colin Lester, Universal Republic's producer management arm from the label side.

Mr. Mackay began his A&R career at Universal Records, serving as Vice President of the department. Since then, he has worked with such chart-topping artists as 3 Doors Down, Hinder, Grammy nominees Seth MacFarlane, The Lonely Island and Grammy winner Colbie Caillat , multi-platinum rockers, Godsmack, Anberlin among others. He also served as A&R Consultant for Moby's 2005 critically acclaimed release, "Hotel." Also in 2011, he celebrated a #1 country hit with label partners, Republic Nashville with Eli Young Band's "Crazy Girl" a band signed by Mr. Mackay.
