GENBAND Unveils Feature-Rich Mobile Life Application for Families on the Go

A2 powered GENBAND Mobile Life taps Cloud to unify consumers’ favorite applications onto one common interface across mobile phones, tablets, set top boxes and PCs

Mobile World Congress 2012

BARCELONA, Spain--()--GENBAND, a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today introduced GENBAND Mobile Life, an RCS-e (enhanced Rich Communications Suite)-compliant, feature-rich mobile application designed for the consumer market and families ‘on the go.’ Powered by the GENBAND A2™ Communications Application Server, this unified communications solution offers mobile operators new revenue generating services while empowering subscribers with a single application that simplifies the way they communicate across devices, including their home and work mobile phones, tablets, set top boxes and computers.

“Consumers depend more than ever on their mobile devices to deliver a range of capabilities traditionally offered in standalone solutions and applications,” said Mehmet Balos, Chief Marketing Officer at GENBAND. “As part of our commitment to mobile broadband innovation and IP convergence, GENBAND Mobile Life brings it all together in one feature-rich application, from video conferencing to controlling TV settings to family schedules. Whether on vacation or at soccer practice, GENBAND Mobile Life makes managing life on the go more intuitive and convenient than ever.”

Instead of managing disparate applications downloaded from various mobile app stores, GENBAND Mobile Life is the first to provide them on a single, browser-based app for residential subscribers. By delivering one mobile phone application that unifies all of the services available on your desktop or laptop, consumers can manage their lives from a single touch screen menu with a common interface. Unified services include instant and SMS messaging, e-mail, address book, social network integration, photos, music libraries and video chat. Family-friendly features include Family Conference, Family Blended Address Book, Family Manager, Family Calendar, Family Communicator, Family File Sharing, Family TV Manager and Family Messaging.

“With consumers spending more time on their mobile phones, competitive equipment makers need to extend the capabilities of their communications application servers to meet growing demands for the newest voice applications that drive network evolution and network convergence to IP/IMS,” said Akshay Sharma, Research Director, Gartner, Carrier Network Infrastructure. “Such enhanced mobile flexibility breaks down generational barriers to technology by providing anyone, regardless of technical knowledge, a single, simplified access point for shared calendars, photos, address books, and files through cloud-based access while being agnostic of access method - whether WiFi, cellular or fixed networks.”

GENBAND Mobile Life follows on the successful release of GENBAND’s Mobile Office solution, which offers businesses a converged application for the mobile workforce, emulating the office desktop experience for smartphone and tablet users.

GENBAND will demonstrate the Mobile Life and Mobile Office solutions at this year’s Mobile World Congress conference in Barcelona, February 27 – March 1. Visit the GENBAND booth at 2A07, Hall 2.0.
