Hortonworks Appoints Shaun Connolly to Vice President of Corporate Strategy

Former VMware, SpringSource, JBoss Executive Brings 20 Years of Experience to Help Extend Hortonworks’ Leadership within the Apache Hadoop Market

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Hortonworks, a leading contributor to Apache Hadoop projects, today announced that Shaun Connolly has joined the company’s executive team as vice president of corporate strategy. Connolly brings more than 20 years of experience in the software industry, with a track record of growing early stage and mid-size software companies into successful market leaders. Connolly will be responsible for helping Hortonworks achieve its business objectives by guiding the company’s corporate strategy and identifying new market opportunities for Apache Hadoop.

Connolly will play a critical role in helping the company position and grow the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) as a next-generation enterprise data management solution, helping organizations maximize the value from the wealth of data flowing throughout their enterprise. The Hortonworks Data Platform is a massively scalable, open and extensible platform powered by the most popular Apache Hadoop projects including the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), MapReduce, Pig, Hive, HBase and Zookeeper.

Prior to joining Hortonworks, Connolly was vice president of product strategy at VMware, where he was focused on defining VMware’s cloud application platform vision. Connolly has also held vice president and director-level positions at SpringSource, Red Hat, JBoss, Princeton Softech, HP, Bluestone Software and Primavera Systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Drexel University.
