Generali Deutschland Chooses Conning’s GEMS® Software

COLOGNE, Germany & HARTFORD, Conn.--()--Conning, a leading global provider of asset management services, risk and capital management solutions and research to the insurance industry, announced today that Generali Deutschland Group, the second-largest primary insurance group in the German market, has signed a multi-year license agreement to use Conning’s GEMS® Portfolio Analyzer to support the development and control of its investment strategy.

GEMS® Portfolio Analyzer combines Conning’s robust economic scenario generator GEMS® with Conning’s investment and management decision modules. Generali Deutschland will use GEMS® Portfolio Analyzer to model a full, rich, and extendable range of asset classes, including Pfandbriefe in Germany. GEMS® Portfolio Analyzer provides clients with capabilities to model multiple investment portfolios and dynamic asset allocation strategies as well as variable annuity hedging, pension management strategies and risk attribution. For their modeling needs, portfolio managers can take advantage of the rich set of financial instruments available in the investment module, such as floating rate notes, interest rate swaps, interest rate derivatives, inflation-linked derivatives and equity derivatives.

“We needed an Economic Scenario Generator that provided comprehensive and powerful analytical capabilities. It is also critical to us to be able to model our own view of the future economic environment. The GEMS Target Parameterisation Tool provides us with powerful capabilities in this respect,” said Marina Hartmann, Strategic Investment Planning, Generali Deutschland. “With the GEMS® Portfolio Analyzer software we also are able to model multiple portfolios with management rules, including dynamic asset allocation strategies, which is important to us.”

"Generali Deutschland is a market leader in offering primary insurance products in Germany," said Steve Sonlin, Managing Director, Conning. "We’re pleased they selected GEMS® Portfolio Analyzer as part of their competitive strategy."
