Lotame’s Unifying Data Management Platform, Crowd Control, Attracts New Customers

Shift from Ad-Network Business Propels Crowd Control DMP Growth

NEW YORK--()--Data-driven leader Lotame announced today that the shuttering of its ad-sales division has led to a surge in new customers for its industry-leading data management platform (DMP) services.

Lotame had built an advertising network in 2006, supported by its own advanced data management platform, Crowd Control. It grew into one of the larger behavioral ad networks online. But Lotame, confident in Crowd Control’s capabilities and wanting to remove any perception of a conflict of interest, closed its advertising network to new customers in mid-August. As expected, the closure led to a surge in new customers for Crowd Control. Since that time, more than a dozen new DMP customers have signed up with Lotame, including IDG TechNetwork and Photobucket.

“Our customers tell us that Crowd Control gives them access to the data they need, via the most user-friendly interface they’ve seen,” said Lotame CEO Andy Monfried. “Lotame created the very first DMP, and we’re pleased that our hard work and experience have led to a data platform that arms our clients with the tools they need to understand their audience better and raise their revenue.”

"With the most-popular comedy site and the fourth-most-popular video site among the eight in our network, we’ve established a broad reach but were looking to increase targetability," said Andrew Budkofsky, Break Media's Executive VP of sales and partnerships. "The Lotame product gives us that best-of-breed targetability with a better data set than we'd seen anywhere else."

“Working with more than 300 publishing partners, we have data needs that are more complex than most,” said Nikesh Desai, Co-Founder and CEO of InvestingChannel.com. “We’re very pleased that Lotame’s Crowd Control platform was built to handle that level of complexity, and we look forward to working with Lotame to make the most of our own data.”
