BOSTON--()--At this week`s Neuroscience 2011 conference (Nov 12-16, 2011), the premier venue for Neuroscientists around the world, two leading technology companies present live demonstrations of a new solution for co-registration of eye tracking and EEG. The integration of eye tracking and EEG data provides important insights for all application fields in which visual attention and emotional or cognitive reaction is of central interest (e.g. Brain-Computer Interface, Neuromarketing, Learning, and Behavior). SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI), world leader in scientific eye tracking technology, and Brain Products, leading manufacturer of hard- and software for neurophysiological research, will demonstrate setup and workflow of the co-registered data collection and analysis. The integrated solution combines the SMI RED500 remote eye tracker, Brain Product’s actiCAP EEG system and BrainVision Analyzer 2, Brain Products EEG signal analysis software. -> Learn more

Co-registration is emerging as the method of choice to evaluate the interplay of visual experience and neural activity in order to determine the emotional engagement of consumers, examine damages to the visual system of patients, compare brain activity with behavioral activity in cognitive psychology or develop multimodal interaction interfaces. Brain Products and SMI have worked extensively to extend the integration and data link options of their products to provide a scientifically sound integration on the data level. Some of the renowned users working with Brain Products EEG and SMI Eye Tracking Solutions are Humboldt University and Free University Germany, Kook-Min University and Yonsei University Korea and Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

“The new BrainVision Analyzer 2 module combines eye tracking and EEG data in one dashboard. Customers interested in this combination will no longer have to program their own scripts to merge co-registered data. This step will be managed by our analysis software, allowing the researchers to focus on data analysis,” says Pierluigi Castellone, General Manager of Brain Products.

“BrainVision Analyzer 2 uses the configurable synchronization signals of SMI Experiment Center software to align the eye tracking data with the EEG data stream. The SMI RED500, world`s first binocular 500Hz remote eye tracking device, is the ideal solution for co-registration studies due to its contact-free design, high accuracy and low latency measurement properties, “ says Christian Villwock, Director of SMI’s Eye and Gaze Tracking Systems business.
