Pro Football Has Finally Arrived in San Antonio

San Antonio Talons of the Arena Football League to Play at Alamodome

SAN ANTONIO--()--The City of San Antonio, along with representatives from the San Antonio Talons management team, officially announced today that professional football has arrived in San Antonio. The San Antonio Talons of the Arena Football League (AFL) will host their season at the Alamodome to accommodate large crowds from across Central and South Texas.

Jason Lohe of Revolutionary Sports and Game Plan Wealth, who heads the Majority ownership group and acts as CEO and GM for the Franchise, confirmed the news on Friday, September 23, 2011. Lohe announced that the team will host a press conference on Tuesday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. in the South Club Eyebrow of the Alamodome to introduce the management and front office team, along with some exciting details about the team and their plans for the upcoming season.

"San Antonio is a great football town," Mayor Julián Castro said. "We've seen that with the UTSA Roadrunners and I'm confident we'll continue to see that with the AFL's Talons. By adding another attraction to the Alamodome, we are giving San Antonians more reasons to visit downtown, to patronize local restaurants and to boost the overall local economy."

The inaugural season will begin in March of 2012 and last through August. The Talons will host nine games at the Alamodome and travel for an additional nine games, facing teams such as Chicago, Jacksonville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and San Jose.

“The speed and excitement of this high scoring football league makes it enjoyable for the entire community, from NFL fans to those who just enjoy competitive entertainment,” says Jason Lohe. “We also have made a conscious commitment to make this an affordable league so that it was accessible to the entire community.”

Rob Yowell, President of the San Antonio Talons, says that San Antonio was the obvious choice when the ownership team began to search for a new home for the franchise. “Not only does this great city desire a pro football presence, they deserve it,” says Yowell. “We couldn’t be more excited to make that a reality today.”
