SAN FRANCISCO--()--TwitchTV, the world’s largest video game broadcasting community, today announced official user-base numbers and engagement data that place the new site in the top echelon of gaming sites in the world. Since launching in private beta five months ago, the site has doubled in size and is attracting more than 8 million viewers per month.

“From the day we launched the site, I was confident that the gaming community wanted what we were building,” said Emmett Shear, co-founder of Justin.tv and general manager of TwitchTV. “Even so, the level of growth we saw surprised me. Not only did our existing broadcasters expand their audience significantly, we also saw a huge influx of new broadcasters. The community gets larger every week.”

Key to TwitchTV’s growth has been a partner and user-centric philosophy. Via it’s Partner Program, TwitchTV has inked revenue-sharing business relationships with a who’s-who of the video gaming industry. Partners like Major League Gaming, Team Liquid, North American Star League, PAX, Quantic, Machinima, and dozens of others, are streaming their video content on TwitchTV, and sharing in the revenue generated via advertising, sponsorships and channel subscriptions.

“The massive, engaged, passionate audience that TwitchTV attracts will be a huge boon to our business,” said Sven Hoffmann, CEO of Turtle Entertainment TV, the operation company behind ESL TV. “There’s just no doubt that TwitchTV has a fantastic feature set for both broadcasters and viewers, and superb quality video. They’re gamers at heart, so you know they’ll do right by the gaming community.”

TwitchTV has also forged an exclusive advertising sales partnership with veteran gaming and technology magazine publisher, Future US. Future will sell advertising and sponsorships for both TwitchTV and JustinTV in the US.

“You simply can’t find another medium where this kind of concentrated demographic is so tuned in and enthusiastic. Today’s media landscape is extremely fractured, but TwitchTV has cut through the noise and brought the gaming community together around a shared passion,” said Rachelle Considine, VP of Sales & Marketing. “We are excited to offer Future’s current advertising partners the opportunity to reach more gamers with TwitchTV’s gaming community.”
