WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Genetics Policy Institute (GPI) announced today that Bernard Siegel, executive director of GPI, will make a keynote presentation titled “The Mandate to Deliver Cures: Aligning the Science, Industry and Patient Advocacy Agendas” at the 4th annual Stem Cell Europe conference that is organized by Select Biosciences. The event will take place at the Edinburgh Conference Centre at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh July 20-21, 2011.
“It is critical for researchers and industry leaders to align themselves with patients to address the policy and regulatory hurdles blocking the advancement of stem cell research and its translation to effective treatments and cures. I am pleased to present this topic at this important international gathering,” said Bernard Siegel.
Bernard Siegel also serves on the Executive Committee of the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine and Board of the Coalition for Advancement of Medical Research. He serves as spokesperson for the Stem Cell Action Coalition.
Genetics Policy Institute was formed in 2003 with the mission of promoting and defending stem cell research and its application in medicine to develop therapeutics and cures for many otherwise intractable diseases and disorders. GPI pursues this mission through production of its flagship annual World Stem Cell Summit <www.worldstemcellsummit.com>, publication of the World Stem Cell Report, special projects, speaking engagements, teaching initiatives, and strategic collaborations.
