BERKELEY, Calif.--()--UC Berkeley Extension and leaders from top technology, utility, and telecom companies are gearing up for the Smart Grid Technology Conference 2011, June 1–2, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Jose, Calif. Now in its second year, the conference assembles thought leaders from various industries to discuss and find solutions for smart grid issues, including developing partnerships, understanding new standards, and identifying areas for growth.

UC Berkeley Extension instructor Dr. Michael Hsieh lends his expertise to the conference as part of the Evolution of Smart Metering and the Transition to HEMS panel. Along with representatives from Smart Grid Library and OpenADR, Hsieh is to address usability, home area network technology, ZigBee Smart Energy Profile 2.0, the Energy System Interface, and more. Hsieh, an instructor in Extension’s Professional Series in Smart Grid Technology, brings more than a decade of energy and IT experience, with expertise in cloud computing, smart grid, and microprocessor chips.
