Virtustream Joins SAP’s Virtualization and Cloud Technology Advisory Board

SAP-Certified Global Provider of Cloud Services Helps Guide Development of Cloud Management Tools and Strategy in Support of SAP® Solutions

BETHESDA, Md.--()--Virtustream, Inc., a leading provider of cloud services and next-generation infrastructure solutions, today announced it has joined SAP’s virtualization and cloud technology advisory board, a select group of SAP (NYSE: SAP) customers and partners who are actively involved with cloud computing. As a member of the advisory board, Virtustream will leverage its knowledge and experience as a cloud services provider to help SAP validate the development requirements of solutions and tools to manage SAP® applications in virtual and cloud infrastructures.

“The formation of the virtualization and cloud technology advisory board is part of SAP’s commitment to expand our cloud computing strategy and further develop our suite of industry-leading cloud-based solutions,” said Jeff Anders, director, Solution Management, Virtualization and Cloud, SAP Labs, Inc. “With organizations gaining confidence in deploying mission-critical applications in the cloud, there is a demand for sophisticated cloud platforms that can help ensure the availability, security and flexibility requirements of enterprise-class applications. Virtustream’s participation in the technology advisory board supports our efforts to develop solutions that leverage virtualization technologies and cloud platforms to help enterprises quickly respond to changing business and market requirements.”

Virtustream has deep expertise in optimizing SAP application environments through its xStream cloud platform, which was developed with a focus on the requirements necessary to run complex enterprise applications such as those from SAP, in an elastic consumption-based model, backed by industry-leading SLAs. In November 2010, Virtustream became the seventh SAP-certified provider of cloud services worldwide for its ability to deploy SAP applications via the xStream platform, including on-demand infrastructure, hardware, storage, network, software and services.

Virtustream currently manages one of the largest production environments of SAP applications running in a multi-tenanted cloud, as Domino Sugar (American Sugar Holdings, Inc. and its affiliates) deployed xStream in order to optimize its entire infrastructure, including a multi-thousand seat SAP application-based system. As a result of the deployment, Domino’s SAP systems now operate up to twice as fast on the xStream platform. The company also projects up to a 40 percent reduction in total cost of ownership over three years, while providing elastic capacity and significantly reducing disaster recovery times.

“Leveraging comprehensive SAP product knowledge and nearly a decade of experience designing highly available and elastic virtualization and cloud infrastructures, Virtustream enables clients to maximize their deployed capital investments and truly take advantage of the efficiencies of the cloud,” said Peter Albers, executive vice president, Global Application Services, Virtustream. “We look forward to sharing our expertise with the technology advisory board and collaborating with SAP and our peers on solutions that advance the delivery of enterprise-class applications in the cloud.”
