LONDON & WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boston-Power, Inc., the rapidly growing provider of next-generation lithium-ion battery cells, modules and systems, today announced its Chief Technology Officer Dr. Per Önnerud will present at EV Battery Tech London 2011 to be held March 30 – April 1 at the Olympia Conference Center in London.
Internationally recognized as a 20+ year veteran in the lithium-ion battery, portable power and electric vehicle industries, Dr. Önnerud will participate in the “Battery Manufacturer Opening Perspectives” session at 10:00 a.m. GMT on Wednesday, March 30 and the “Vehicle OEM & Battery Manufacturer Q&A” panel directly following at 10:40 a.m. Later that day, at 3:35 p.m. GMT, he will deliver the presentation, “Evaluating Cost-Effective Thermal Management Technologies & Strategies for Optimizing the Temperature Profile of the Battery.”
In addition to Dr. Onnerud’s presentations, Boston-Power will be exhibiting in Booth# 11.
Boston-Power, Inc.’s game-changing lithium-ion battery technology is a highlight of Saab’s all-electric 9-3 ePower. The 9-3 ePower features a 35.5 kWh Boston-Power Swing® lithium-ion battery pack that sets an electric vehicle (EV) benchmark for energy density – delivering a projected driving range of approximately 200 km/124 miles and contributing to a much lower total battery weight. The battery pack is intended to support re-charge cycles equivalent to 10 years of average use. Using 400V three-phase charging at 16 amps, it can be fully recharged in about 3-6 hours, depending on depletion status. With 230V one-phase charging at 16 amps, the charging time is approximately 10 hours. If the voltage of the electrical feed is raised, charging times can be greatly reduced, as there is no limitation on the battery’s input capacity.
