Clean Energy Roundtable at Stanford: White House and U.S. Experts Talk Energy Policy & Investment

Stanford’s Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance invites the public to a discussion with senior government energy and technology officials to inform entrepreneurs, investors and researchers about the Obama Administration's policies, programs and initiatives to support clean energy innovation and entrepreneurship. The talk, titled “Clean Energy: DC 2 VC,” will give attendees a chance to discuss the President's approach with senior Administration officials, leaders of the clean energy industry, and top researchers and policy experts.

 

Speakers:

Aneesh Chopra is the White House Chief Technology Officer and in this role serves as an Assistant to the President and Associate Director for Technology within the Office of Science & Technology Policy. He works to advance the President’s technology agenda by fostering new ideas and encouraging government-wide coordination to help the country meet its goals from job creation, to reducing health care costs, to protecting the homeland.

 

Arun Majumdar is the Acting Under Secretary of Energy and Director of Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). He became the first Director of ARPA-E, the country’s only agency devoted to transformational energy research and development, in October 2009.

 

Dan Reicher is Executive Director of the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance, a joint initiative of the Stanford Law School and the Graduate School of Business. He served in the Clinton administration as Assistant Secretary of Energy for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. He was also a member of President Obama’s transition team. Reicher comes to Stanford from Google where he served since 2007 as director of climate change and energy initiatives. Prior to that position he was an executive with a private equity firm that invests in clean energy projects and a venture-backed renewable energy technology company.
