CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A pair of high-profile insurance litigators from Howrey LLP joined Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP on Tuesday as partners in the Insurance Policyholder Practice and Litigation groups. The hiring of Jill B. Berkeley, who will chair the Insurance Policyholder Practice Group, and Seth D. Lamden brings a renewed focus to the firm’s already-strong insurance practice.
“We are thrilled to have attracted Jill and Seth to our firm,” said Angela R. Elbert, an insurance policyholder partner and chair of the firm’s Directors’ & Officers’ Insurance Practice. “Jill is known in legal circles and to her clients as one of the best insurance litigators in Illinois and beyond, and Seth equally brings extensive knowledge and legal aptitude that will undoubtedly benefit our clients.”
Berkeley, regularly listed in industry publications and legal directories as one of the best insurance attorneys and leading female lawyers, represents policyholders and claimants in insurance coverage disputes involving toxic torts and hazardous wastes, environmental pollution, construction, products liability, intellectual property, first-party property, business interruption and excess liability matters.
In addition to her robust litigation practice, Berkeley offers her clients strategic advice on insurance coverage to help them manage risk. She has counseled clients in connection with all types of insurance policies, including directors’ and officers’ and professional liability, commercial general liability, first-party property and builder’s risk, and personal and advertising injury liability.
Neal Gerber Eisenberg Managing Partner Jerry H. Biederman said firm management is delighted to appoint Berkeley as a practice group chair.
“We expect that Jill’s leadership, experience and enthusiasm will ripple through the entire firm,” Biederman said. “Through this acquisition, we will significantly boost our capabilities and reputation as a leader in insurance law.”
Lamden has litigated high-stakes insurance disputes for corporate and individual policyholders for more than 10 years. Through this experience, he has developed the skills to quickly analyze a client’s situation and devise a plan for success, whether that be through negotiation, mediation or litigation. In addition to being an astute litigator, Lamden counsels policyholders on the spectrum of insurance matters, including maximizing coverage prospects while defending lawsuits, coordinating the defense and settlement of claims involving multiple insurers, negotiating settlements with solvent and insolvent insurers and drafting contractual insurance specifications and indemnity agreements.
