Partnership to Nourish the Good: Newman’s Own® and VolunteerMatch Unite to Celebrate Volunteerism

~Volunteers to Receive Newman’s Own Products and Value Offers~

WESTPORT, Conn.--()--Newman’s Own® announced today a year-long partnership with VolunteerMatch, the Web’s most popular volunteer network, entitled ‘Nourish the Good.’ The alliance, created to champion volunteerism in 2011, begins today and runs through the end of the year. Visitors who register for a project at www.volunteermatch.org/nourishthegood will receive three dollars off any Newman’s Own product. During the month of April, in support of National Volunteer Week, which runs from the 10th through the 16th, Newman’s Own will provide a free product* voucher for each new volunteer who commits to make a difference in 2011.

“Newman’s Own deeply appreciates the value of volunteers and recognizes the impact of those who contribute their time and talent to local community organizations; we want to help encourage and nourish that good work as much as we can. Because of our philanthropic mission, we see this alliance as a way to put our products to work even harder in support of service,” explained Mike Havard, vice president of marketing for Newman’s Own, Inc.

The ‘Nourish the Good’ program also encourages each new volunteer to pass the offer along to five friends. Those friends, in turn, are also asked to help spread the word to five more acquaintances. A primary goal of the program is to make it easier for active volunteers to engage their social networks and, ultimately, to inspire even more community involvement. All people who register to volunteer for a project will receive the Newman’s Own product offer.

Last year the VolunteerMatch network supported more than six million visitors and over 75,000 participating organizations. The free service makes it easy for individuals to find the perfect volunteer opportunity based on their location, interest, or skill.

“For a generation Newman’s Own has been a wonderfully visible example of a company committed to making the public good a part of their bottom line. We are proud to be helping them expand this commitment to support volunteering. We see it as an opportunity for two social enterprises with complementary missions to come together to multiply their impact,” said Greg Baldwin, president of VolunteerMatch.
