NORWALK, Conn.--()--On Saturday, November 23, 2019, the National League of Cities (NLC) presented HomeServe USA with its distinguished “Service to Cities Award” at the 2019 NLC City Summit in San Antonio. HomeServe received the award in honor of the launch of the HomeServe Cares Foundation earlier this year.

The HomeServe Cares Foundation supports the mission of “Spreading Hope and Supporting Communities One Home at a Time” through four pillars:

  1. Caring For People – Pro-bono home repair jobs for eligible homeowners who are not customers and who find themselves facing a home emergency they are unable to handle financially.
  2. Caring For Community – Grants to municipalities and non-profits to help fund community-based projects.
  3. Caring For Vets – Connecting current and transitioning military men and women with the HomeServe contractor network to place veterans into paid apprenticeships in the trades.
  4. Caring For Good – An employee-directed corporate charitable matching program and opportunities for HomeServe employees to participate in volunteer efforts.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from the National League of Cities for our corporate commitment to spreading hope and supporting communities. The NLC has long been a valuable partner with our company, which makes this award especially meaningful,” said John Kitzie, Chief Executive Officer of HomeServe USA. “In just seven months since the Foundation launched, we’ve already awarded tens of thousands in grant dollars to municipalities and non-profits, completed over 40 HomeServe Cares pro-bono jobs in communities around the country, and had employees participate in a variety of volunteer opportunities from builds with Habitat for Humanity to biking hundreds of miles to support cancer survivor programs.”

Since 2010, NLC and Utility Service Partners, a HomeServe company, have worked together on the NLC Service Line Warranty Program, the only service line warranty program endorsed by the NLC. The Program offers residents in participating cities the ability to purchase affordable emergency repair service plans that cover the portion of the outside water and waste lines that are the responsibility of the homeowner.

“We are pleased to recognize HomeServe with NLC’s 2019 Service to Cities Award,” said Clarence E. Anthony, CEO and executive director of the National League of Cities (NLC). “Since 2010, our partnership has been a win-win for municipalities and their residents, and we know that the contributions of the HomeServe Cares Foundation are making a positive impact in communities across the country.”
