Biogennix Teams with Second Harvest Food Bank to Give Back to the Community

IRVINE, Calif.--()--Biogennix, an osteobiologics company that develops, manufactures, and distributes proprietary bone graft products used for bone fusion procedures, spent a recent afternoon celebrating the spirit of Thanksgiving early. The company and its employees chose to donate a Wednesday afternoon supporting Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

Second Harvest is the largest nonprofit hunger relief organization leading the fight to end hunger in Orange County. Each month, Second Harvest provides meals to over 250,000 individuals in need. Last year the organization distributed 26.5 million meals through a network of more than 300 community and program partners such as church and school pantries, senior centers, Boys and Girls Clubs, Kids Cafes, and shelters for abused women and children and those without homes.

More than 290,000 people in Orange County, California, where Biogennix is headquartered, are at risk of hunger each month.

“At Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, we truly appreciate the hands-on involvement of organizations such as Biogennix who come into our Distribution Center and help us prepare food for pickup by our network of community partners who help feed hungry children, seniors and families in Orange County,” said Taylor Chanin, Volunteer Engagement Manager, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. “Biogennix’s care for neighbors in need and commitment to joining our fight to end food insecurity are vital to bringing nourishment and hope to the more than 290,000 OC residents at risk of hunger each month.”

“With the holiday season rapidly approaching, and so many people in our region struggling with hunger, our team wanted to do something proactive to help,” said Dr. Clay Shors, Biogennix’s President. “Plus we’re headquartered in Orange County, minutes from Second Harvest’s Irvine distribution center. It just makes sense that we’d come together as an organization and give something back to the community while having a positive team-building experience at the same time. It’s been great working with Second Harvest and rewarding to be able to contribute to the area we are fortunate to live and work in.”

Biogennix local employees rallied with enthusiasm to join Second Harvest in their fight to end hunger. Biogennix employees helped Second Harvest sort and package fresh produce, non-perishable food, and food drive items.

In steady growth mode, Biogennix exhibited its proprietary TrelCorTM technology at the North American Spine Society (NASS) annual meeting last month and also recently announced it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its newest product, AgilonTM collagen enhanced moldable bone grafting product.

Biogennix designs, manufactures and distributes all of its products from its Irvine-based facilities.
