NEWARK, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sallie Mae® will again award a $25,000 college scholarship to an Indiana high school junior or senior through its Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program. High school counselors and community leaders can nominate students now through Sept. 26.
Sallie Mae’s Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program recognizes students who have excelled both inside and outside of the classroom, but whose financial circumstances or other obstacles in life may not allow them to pursue a college education.
Since 2016, Sallie Mae has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students through the Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program. Last year, Jenna Frezza — a senior at Oliver P. Morton High School — was Indiana’s recipient of the Bridging the Dream Scholarship. Jenna was nominated by her school counselor, Gillian Barberich.
“As its name suggests, this $25,000 Bridging the Dream Scholarship can help put the dream of a higher education within reach for a student in our state,” said Elise Sintes, guidance counselor, Oliver P. Morton High School. “As a counselor, we are committed to encouraging and supporting our student’s higher education goals. Nominating students from our schools and communities is a simple way to honor that commitment.”
Other 2018 Bridging the Dream Scholarship recipients, nominated by school counselors or leaders of their local community were: Joe Bell of Gladstone, Missouri; Simone Dobosh of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania; Essence Duplechain of Houston, Texas; Thanh Le of West Valley City, Utah; Ardavia Lee of New Castle, Delaware; and Doug Sullivan of Saraland, Alabama.
