ORANGE, Calif.--()--The California Rx Card® and its national partner, United Networks of America, have donated $280,411 to nine hospitals across California that are part of the Children’s Miracle Network, which raises funds for children’s health care and medical research.

“We are thrilled to be able to join with United Networks of America to support children’s health in California,” said Edward J. Brown III, vice president of the California Rx Card program. “In addition to delivering savings to Californians on their medications, each prescription processed through our program helps raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network facilities in the state.”

Donations to the nine beneficiaries statewide are based on the number of prescriptions filled in each hospital’s service area using the California Rx Card. Since the partnership between United Networks of America and Children’s Miracle Network began in 2015, more than $2.4 million has been donated to children’s hospitals nationwide.

“Our prescription drug discount program was launched in California in late 2007,” noted Brown. “Through year-end 2018, the California Rx Card has saved residents more than $600 million in 11 years.”

Available at no cost to residents regardless of their age or income, the California Rx Card offers discounts of up to 75 percent on both brand name and generic prescriptions. It is accepted at major chain pharmacies in California and at more than 68,000 pharmacies across the country. The participating pharmacy roster includes CVS, CVS at Target, Rite Aid, Walgreen’s, Walmart, and regional pharmacies like those inside Albertson’s, Pavilions, Raley’s, Ralph’s, Safeway, and Von’s supermarkets, as well as others. The card also offers savings for Californians needing prescriptions when traveling outside the state.
