Nationally-renowned oncologist will present this year’s Giants of Cancer Care® Lecture

CRANBURY, N.J.--()--OncLive®, the leading digital provider of resources and information to oncology professionals, is pleased to announce that 2018 Giants of Cancer Care® inductee Maurie Markman, M.D., will present the Giants of Cancer Care® Lecture on viewing ovarian cancer as a chronic illness: and increasing need for both therapeutic ‘precision’ and a focus on quality-of-life at this year’s CFS® Chemotherapy Foundation Symposium. The lecture will take place on Thursday, November 8 at 11:10 a.m.

Dr. Markman is currently the president of medicine and science at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). Previously, he was senior vice president of clinical affairs and national director of medical oncology. Dr. Markman has more than 20 years of experience in cancer treatment and gynecologic research at some of the country's most recognized facilities. Most recently, Dr. Markman served as the vice president for clinical research, chairman of the department of gynecologic medical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, where he also served as a professor of medicine. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including, but not limited to, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the International Gynecologic Cancer Society, and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists.

The 36th Annual CFS® will take place from November 7- 9 at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City. At this event, internationally renowned faculty will provide expert insights on the latest developments in cancer therapeutics, offering oncology practitioners an unparalleled opportunity to learn how innovative approaches fit into existing treatment paradigms to optimize care and outcomes for their patients with cancer.

At this year’s Annual CFS®, Giants of Cancer Care® will be exhibiting on the 6th floor where attendee’s will have the chance to nominate their peers who have achieved landmark successes within the global field of oncology. Previous recipients and CFS® faculty include esteemed medical professionals such as Patrick I. Borgen, M.D.; Franco M. Muggia, M.D.; Joyce O'Shaughnessy, M.D.; and Maha H. Hussain, MB, ChB.

All nominees are vetted by our seven esteemed Giants of Cancer Care® Advisory Board members, and then voted on by a selection committee of over 115 prominent oncologists.
