United Way Announces That Lyft Chooses Salesforce.org Philanthropy Cloud to Harness Its Employees’ Passion for Good

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--Today, United Way Worldwide (www.unitedway.org) announced that Lyft, the fastest growing rideshare company in the United States, has chosen Salesforce.org Philanthropy Cloud, a global platform that transforms corporate values into actions, to empower its corporate philanthropy and employee engagement.

Beginning in 2019, Philanthropy Cloud will be introduced to more than 3,000 Lyft employees, enabling them to fundraise, organize volunteer activities, and engage in advocacy opportunities. Lyft is engaged in an array of initiatives that provide resources to nonprofits and support communities across the country, such as Lyft Relief Rides and Round Up & Donate. Philanthropy Cloud will enable Lyft’s employees to become more directly involved in the social impact initiatives their company spearheads, or those of their choice, making deeper connections in their communities.

“Lyft is reimagining how transportation can solve social problems by creating access to transportation around the nation for those in need,” said Mike Masserman, Head of Social Impact at Lyft. “Partnering with United Way and Salesforce.org to utilize Philanthropy Cloud will help us further empower and mobilize our employees to help them give back to the community.”

“Lyft is an outstanding partner to United Way. They share our vision of building stronger communities for all,” said Brian Gallagher, President and CEO of United Way Worldwide. “From Lyft Relief Rides to this latest commitment to empower employees to give back and connect through Salesforce.org Philanthropy Cloud, Lyft exemplifies the ongoing shift in the way employers and employees engage in communities. United Way is proud to work with Lyft to help more people succeed in getting the opportunities they deserve.”

"Lyft has been a shining example of how to combine innovation and community service," said Nasi Jazayeri, EVP/GM of Philanthropy Cloud at Salesforce.org. "We, along with our partners at United Way, are very excited about Lyft’s adoption of Philanthropy Cloud, which will enable the company to extend its philanthropic spirit to its employees through community giving and volunteerism."

For more than 130 years, United Way has partnered with companies around the world to mobilize employees around their community, and to add velocity to corporate philanthropy goals. Salesforce.org is a nonprofit social enterprise born out of the belief that the purpose of business is to improve the state of the world.
