PPG Completes COLORFUL COMMUNITIES Project at Hope Gardens Family Center in Sylmar, California

SYLMAR, Calif.--()--PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project in Sylmar, California, that helped revitalize Hope Gardens Family Center. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Sylmar, where PPG has an aerospace facility.

The project brought together approximately 150 PPG volunteers, who spent 6.5 hours revitalizing three of Hope Gardens’ main buildings. PPG provided $25,000 to assist with the project, including more than 100 gallons of PPG PAINTS™ SPEED CRYL™ paint products and supplies.

Hope Gardens Family Center is a transitional housing campus that offers sanctuary to approximately 250 women and children experiencing homelessness. The center helps women transition from homelessness to independence within 12 to 36 months by offering a transformational program and a multitude of services, as well as permanent housing for about 25 senior women.

Volunteers painted the facility’s administration building and two dormitories in a color palette of PPG Paints Antique Mahogany, Stony Creek and Toasted Almond. These colors were chosen to create a warm, inviting space.

“Hope Gardens is making a difference in this community, providing inspiration and opportunity to the women and children who use its services each day,” said Mark Hood, PPG plant manager, Sylmar. “PPG is excited and honored to partner with such a worthwhile organization. We are also proud of our employee volunteers, who are helping others in our community through their hard work.”

The Colorful Communities program, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. Through the Colorful Communities program, PPG’s committed volunteers contribute their time and PPG paint products to help transform community assets – from painting classrooms, to bringing color to a maternity ward and redesigning a playground. Since 2015, PPG has completed more than 170 Colorful Communities projects, impacting nearly 5 million people in 25 countries.
