Enterprise DevOps Specialist Contino Named One of Top 25 Startups in the UK by LinkedIn

LONDON--()--Contino, a leading global DevOps and cloud consultancy, has been named the 14th best startup in the UK by LinkedIn.

The UK-headquartered company feature alongside the likes of Monzo, Revolut, Gymshark and Starling Bank. The list is the result of LinkedIn’s search for the “25 most in-demand startups operating in the UK today”. They looked at the billions of actions of LinkedIn’s 500 million members to determine the most desirable startups to work for.

Four pillars in particular were explored to put together the list: employee growth, jobseeker interest, member engagement with the company and its employees and how well these startups pulled talent from LinkedIn’s Top Companies list.

In other words, which startups are commanding the attention and working hours of top talent?

Why has Contino been selected?

Contino’s SVP of People, Katie Richardson comments on what separates Contino from the rest of the pack:

“The main reason Contino is a great place to work is that we practice what we preach. The work we do with clients is disruptive and we have worked really hard to make sure that we take that attitude of innovation and disruption across all areas of our business.”

“In such a niche industry, attracting and retaining the best is crucial. To do this we focus massively on the personal development of our employees, making sure they have the skills and support they need to deliver disruptive transformation.”

“We have tried to avoid the pitfalls of a traditional consultancy: men in suits that overpromise and underdeliver. We focus on delivering technical work that results in real, tangible changes to a client’s organisation.”

“Our recruitment process is squarely focused on maintaining that ethos and culture. Our mission statement is even aligned first and foremost around talent, not around growing to a certain size or acquiring a certain number of clients.”

“It’s ultimately this relentless focus on talent that sets us apart.”

There are a few key metrics that LinkedIn used to include Contino in this year’s list:

Employee growth rate

Firstly, the number of jobs the company has created and are forecast to create. From July 2017 to July 2018 Contino filled 149 roles! And are forecast to fill at least 100 (if not many more) globally over the next 12 months.

High growth rate

Contino has doubled in size (both in terms of headcount and revenue) every year for three years. This is projected to continue into 2019 (and they just secured Series B funding to make sure it happens).

Heavy focus on personal development

They do this through short project timelines and rotations, where their engineers work on at least three projects per year using different tools and technologies, team retrospectives and upskilling sessions and cross-collaboration over all delivery teams. Each employee is also given a large training budget to spend however they wish.

Perks and benefits offered to employees

There is a long list of great benefits. Beyond more standard items such as health and dental care, highlights include a generous £5k yearly training budget, £100 on your birthday, monthly individual mental health coaching sessions and enhanced maternity/paternity pay.

Contino helps highly-regulated enterprise organizations to deliver better software, faster, through the adoption of DevOps and cloud computing.
