MedRisk’s Brian Peers, DPT will discuss telerehabilitation at the Virginia Workers Compensation Commission Educational Conference & Exhibition

The conference will be held Oct 17-18 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center

RICHMOND, Va.--()--As the acceptance of telemedicine continues to grow, workers’ compensation professionals are considering its many and varied uses, including for physical therapy.

MedRisk’s Director of Clinical Services Brian Peers, DPT, Director of Clinical Services for MedRisk, will explore telerehabilitation at the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission Educational Conference & Exhibition at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on October 17 at 1 p.m. He will repeat the presentation the following day at 8:30 a.m.

“Studies show that real-time telerehabilitation is effective for treating musculoskeletal conditions,” said Dr. Peers. “The outcomes can be comparable to in-clinic treatment and patients appreciate the convenience. Plus, telerehabilitation is perfect for patient education.”

The presentation will feature a live demo of a physical therapy visit via telerehabilitation. Dr. Peers will examine ways to determine if a patient is a good candidate for telerehabilitation and how it can be combined with in-clinic physical therapy visits. He will also discuss the training and credentialing a telerehabilitation provider should have and review workers’ compensation regulatory considerations during the hour-long session.
