The Standard’s Volunteer Expo Returns to Fountain Square for its Eighth Year

Free annual event helps connect nonprofits with local volunteers and supporters

CINCINNATI--()--On Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, Cincinnati’s largest volunteer expo returns to Fountain Square for its eighth consecutive year. The Volunteer Expo, presented by Standard Insurance Company (The Standard), is a free event with more than 40 participating nonprofits in one place. The expo was created by The Standard to help community members connect with nonprofits and learn about service and donation opportunities that match their skills and interests.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Volunteer Expo attendees can meet with and learn about a wide variety of nonprofits that make a difference in the community. Participating organizations represent the arts, culture, the environment, animal welfare, health, human services and more. If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference but weren’t sure how, the Volunteer Expo is a great place to start – whether you’re looking for a one-time volunteer opportunity or a longer-term commitment.

“The nonprofit organizations featured at the Cincinnati Volunteer Expo have an invaluable impact on our communities, and they count on the public's support and involvement to achieve their missions,” said Greg Ness, chairman, president and CEO of The Standard. “We're proud to host the annual Volunteer Expo because when people find the volunteer opportunity that matches their skills or passions, everyone wins.”

The Volunteer Expo also kicks off The Standard’s annual Employee Giving Campaign. The campaign takes place in September and encourages employees to support schools and nonprofit organizations of their choosing. During the 2018 campaign, employee contributions will again be matched 2:1 up to $5,000 per employee, for a total gift of up to $15,000 per employee to the school or nonprofit the employee chooses. The 2017 campaign broke previous company records, exceeding $4.4 million. It impacted more than 1,700 schools and nonprofit organizations across the United States, including the Dragonfly Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and the Ronald McDonald House.

Join us for the 2018 Volunteer Expo on Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Fountain Square, located at the intersection of Fifth Street and Vine in downtown Cincinnati. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Learn more at www.standard.com/volunteer.
