Bodega Garzón Celebrates 2018 Fiscal Year Milestones

Premium Uruguayan Winery Named Number One Exporter of Wine from Uruguay Into the United States; Launched New Icon Wine Balasto; Opened The Garzón Club; Garzón Tajamares Golf Club Named PGA Preferred Golf Course; Tannat Reserva Recognized on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines List

GARZÓN, Uruguay--()--Bodega Garzón, a boutique winery in the idyllic countryside of Garzón, Uruguay founded by international vintner Alejandro P. Bulgheroni, is pleased to announce its fiscal year milestones, including the duplication of its business in the United States, Brazil and Japan, among others, claiming its spot as the number one exporter of wine from Uruguay. Also, the 2015 Bodega Garzón Tannat Reserva was awarded the number 41 rank on Wine Spectator’s coveted Top 100 Wines list, making it the first Uruguayan wine to be awarded this recognition.

“It’s truly incredible to see Bodega Garzón accomplish so much at such a young stage in its evolution,” said Bulgheroni. “We started producing wine in 2010 and inaugurated the new Bodega Garzón winery in March 2016 with the vision to create terroir-inspired estate wines that reflect the land’s purity and embrace the spirit of the Uruguayan wine county and culture. With that goal in mind, we will continue to strive for greatness in creating exceptional wines and unparalleled experiences.”

Additional major milestones for the praised Uruguayan winery include the launch of its new icon wine – Balasto – made by famed winemaker Alberto Antonini which debuted at La Place de Bordeaux in France and events across the globe, including in New York, Hong Kong, Sao Pablo, London and Beijing.

Another exciting development has been the introduction of The Garzón Club, an exclusive, members-only venue and South America’s newest private club, located within Bodega Garzón’s framework, which was debuted at prestigious events, such as VinExpo in Bordeaux, France; a summer banquet on the Thames; the annual rally for the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club; and the World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ 15th anniversary celebration in Barcelona, Spain.

The winery also announced that Garzón’s Tajamares Golf Club, a private championship 18-hole golf course located on Bodega Garzón’s 10,000-acre estate and a part of The Garzón Club, signed a partnership agreement with the PGA TOUR at TPC Sawgrass during THE PLAYERS Championship. PGA TOUR Executive Vice President of International Affairs Paul Johnson represented the TOUR as Garzón Tajamares Golf Club became the first “PGA TOUR Preferred Golf Course.” Angel Cabrera, a three-time PGA TOUR winner, designed the course. The designation of “PGA TOUR Preferred Golf Course” elevates a golf course’s brand, amplifies marketing communications and allows a course to associate with the PGA TOUR.

Bodega Garzón was also invited by Commebol House in Moscow to be the exclusive wine available to its guests during the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

“The best is yet to come for Bodega Garzón,” said Christian Wylie, managing director of Bodega Garzón. “2018 was an amazing harvest for us that is sure to result in an incredible vintage. With our talented team and our significant vision in place, we’re positive the future is bright for Bodega Garzón.”

The 205,000-square-foot winery – the first in the world seeking LEED certification for its entire facility – showcases estate-grown, limited-production premium wines crafted by influential winemaker and viticulturist Alberto Antonini and offers visitors an experience that highlights the best in South American hospitality. The winery’s inauguration in 2016 represented a major milestone in Bulgheroni’s quest to elevate Bodega Garzón to world-class status and establish the winery as one of the leading South American producers of premium wines.

Bulgheroni and Bettina, his wife, began transforming Garzón in 1999 using the latest in technology along with modern agricultural and livestock developments, while remaining committed to sustainable agriculture and green energy. As the first to make wine in the Garzón region, they have made it a priority to preserve the pure, perfect land and wildlife that make the region so ideal. The extraordinary property now encompasses 500 acres of vineyards, a state-of-the art winery and production facility, a tasting room from which guests can savor panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, retail space, a wine club, a private championship 18-hole golf course designed by Angel Cabrera, an open-fire restaurant conceived by celebrity chef, Francis Mallmann, and immaculate caves for barrel storage, tours, private dining, and events.
