SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.--()--Today, Ryan Sheckler and the Sheckler Foundation are pleased to announce Help Tanner Compete Again as its latest “Be the Change” recipient. As the beneficiary, Tanner Cislaw will receive a $10,000 grant and support from the Sheckler Foundation to help the 19-year-old afford adaptive sports equipment to become a competitive athlete following his spinal cord injury.

Sheckler Foundation’s CEO and Director, Gretchen Sheckler-Hachee says, “First and foremost, we want to thank everyone who entered and participated this round. Four months ago, 19-year-old Tanner Cislaw suffered a spinal cord injury following a rock climbing accident. Since the accident, Tanner has undergone surgery and therapy, so he can become a competitive athlete again. The funds from the initiative will help Tanner afford adaptive sports equipment.

Ryan Sheckler’s “Be the Change” initiative was created to help injured action sports athletes and children in need. Since starting in 2008, the Sheckler Foundation has been paying it forward to help numerous individuals and causes. The past eleven “Be the Change” winners include: A.skate Foundation, The Port Gamble S’Klallam, Peach’s Neet Feet, Ashley Wade Foundation, Hope for Carter, Gamerosity, Andrew Hale’s Road to Recovery, Coping Mechanism-Parisite DIY Skatepark, Talk About Curing Autism (TACA), Adventure Club, Books and Boards and Team Lilly Foundation.
